Mexican Themed Quilt

This beautiful quilt is the result of Chrisi and JJ’s collaboration.
JJ asked me in March of 2006 if I was interested in creating a very personal quilt as a gift for her sister; a quilt influenced by Mexican themes, images and art; but it should also contain special words and favorite items of JJ’s sister; and at last artwork from JJ’s daughters and nephews.
Unfortunately at the point I was very busy with other projects and would not have been able to finish the quilt within the requested timeframe. I really liked the idea though and wanted to take on the challenge. So I thought about it for a while and came up with a proposal for JJ. I said if she was willing to help me design and create this quilt, there was a good chance of getting it done in time for her sister’s birthday. JJ was very excited about this and happy to assist and learn...
...and that was the start of this incredible quilt operation.
